New open spaces in Clay Country

Imerys has had some real success restoring landscapes and wildlife with 1,500 hectares of award-winning restoration completed across mid-Cornwall over the last 10 years.

With potentially in excess of 300 hectares of open space available for a wide range of recreational uses across our 6 surplus sites, local communities will be able to enjoy and explore this new landscape.

We’re also intending to go much further, we want to:

  • Ensure new building is balanced by open countryside
  • Sympathetically restore and remodel the mined landscape ensuring there is space for habitats and wildlife
  • Provide opportunities for tourism, leisure activities, extreme sports and other recreational pursuits
  • Enhance the sense of ‘Cornishness’ by taking care to reflect and embrace the existing villages and landscape in future developments.

Above all, our aim is to ensure there is plenty of open space for the community, providing easy access and innovative designs that will enable people to re-connect with and enjoy their vibrant new landscape.

From quiet enjoyment of the countryside through to extreme sports - we want to ensure that Clay Country will be a place to enjoy...a place to be.The future could look like this…
